Kastle Fireplace is a successful retail fireplace website, generating between 80,000 - 200,000 page views per month.
Web Design Needs
Kastle Fireplace approached me in March, 2002, with regard to making a website that showcased their extensive product line with a simple, easy-to-navigate layout. Suppliers were providing Kastle with a myriad of content; Kastle had taken many photographs of jobs that they had performed for clients; and there were no other fireplace industry websites that had yet experienced significant success.
How I Met Those Needs
Website Layout Design
To start, I organized the content into appropriate sections and drafted a simple, yet functional and attractive, layout.
This layout also incorporates a customized, 2-tier, search-engine friendly layout as well as a proprietary search engine-friendly coding technique to ensure maximum visibility for Kastle Fireplace among Google, Yahoo!, MSN, etc.
Custom Database Development
I created a custom database to organize the Kastle Fireplace content into appropriate categories, based on the layout. Once this was accomplished, pages were developed to automatically retrieve and display the appropriate database content.
Initial Product Addition
To get the website off the ground, I inserted information for over 200 fireplace products into the database.
Ongoing Product and Website Maintenance
I have added, deleted, and modified all descriptions, content and images since kastlefireplace.com's inception.
Online Website Promotion
I am responsible for all aspects of the online marketing of kastlefireplace.com and making sure that it receives the maximum benefit of traffic from search engines and other websites.
Successes
Kastlefireplace.com has been an unmitigated success, generating traffic and interest in Kastle products and services even before its completion in May, 2002. It is responsible for an estimated 95% of new business, and is a major factor in the metamorphosis of Kastle Fireplace from a two-store operation to a competitive international fireplace retailer.
As a result of kastlefireplace.com's tremendous success, I developed a sister site to sell electric fireplaces and related products to the North American market, called Electric Fireplaces Online.
